4.1. System Expansion Capabilities

4.1.1. System Expansion via M.2 Interface

The baseboard comes with three onboard M.2 interface connectors with Key B Type 2242 / 2280 / 3042, Key E Type
2230 / 3030 and Key M Type 2280 support respectively. The Key B connector is intended to be used to install an M.2
WWAN expansion card or an M.2 SSD card drive (not recommended), the Key E connector to install an M.2 WLAN /
Bluetooth / combo expansion card, and the Key M connector to install an M.2 SSD card srive..

4.1.2. System Expansion via Micro SIM Card Socket

The baseboard comes with an onboard socket for a Micro SIM card.
In order to use the Micro SIM card reader functionality, a corresponding M.2 modem card must be installed to the M.2
Key B socket of your KBox F-420-WLU.
To optimize the system functionality, we suggest the following expansion configuration.

an M.2 Type 2280 SSD drive in M.2 Key M socket;
an M.2 Type 2280 WWAN card in M.2 Key B socket; and
an M.2 Type 2230 / 3030 WLAN card in M.2 Key E socket.
