5.4 Null Balance

Determined by the laws of physics, measuring probes have a weak null balance.
Possibly, an external magnetic field, such as the earth's field or the remanence of
adjacent metal parts, might cause a zero offset. This influence can be corrected
automatically by the probe compensation. The detected correction values are stored
non-volatile. For this reason, the probe compensation rather seldom becomes
necessary.
To compensate the external magnetic fields, the function is
triggered via a digital input assigned in the set-up menu or
via
automatically starts the null balance. During null balance, the text PROBE NULL SET
is displayed. The null balance takes approx. five seconds.
To avoid fatal errors, this process is interrupted by the
error message OVERFLOW, if the adjacent external field is
larger than 10% of the respective measuring value.

The bottom left area of the display shows the currently selected
measuring range with the currently selected unit.
The equals sign on the right stands for DC field
measurements.
The alternating sign on the right side of the range stands for
AC field measurements.
The message Peak in the lower part shows the operating mode
Fast peak value detection, thus the fast detection of the
maximum values of DC measuring fields.
Access to the device via LAN interface.
An error has been detected.
