About this Guide

This guide describes the Extron DTP3 T 202 and DTP3 R 201 long distance High Definition
Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Twisted Pair Extenders, which consists of a transmitter and
receiver:

This guide describes how to install, operate, and configure the transmitter and receiver.
In this guide, the DTP3 T 202 is commonly referred to as a transmitter (Tx) and the
DTP3 R 201 as a receiver (Rx). They are also referred to as devices or units.
About the DTP3 T
The DTP3 transmitter and receiver pair (see
distance of HDMI digital video with resolutions up to 4K @ 60 Hz (4:4:4), remote power, and
bidirectional RS‑232 control signals over one Extron XTP DTP 22 shielded twisted pair (STP)
cable (recommended), up to 330 feet (100 meters).
The devices extend the digital signal to DTP3 inputs 330 feet (100 meters) with a
maximum resolution of up to 4K @ 60 Hz, 4:4:4, supporting data rates up to 18 Gbps.
Both units are HDMI (2.0b and 1.4) and HDCP (2.3 and 1.x) compliant. HDCP, and CEC
transmission is negotiated from source to sink. The DTP3 T 202 has EDID Minder
The DTP3 R 201 receiver features digital audio de‑embedding which de‑embeds 2‑ch
LPCM digital audio from the HDMI input signal and outputs it through the Audio Out
connector on the rear panel.
The DTP3 transmitter and receiver are housed in 1 inch tall, quarter rack width, 6 inch deep
metal enclosures. They can be set on a tabletop, mounted in a rack, or under or through
furniture. The receiver can also be mounted on a projector bracket.

Control Communications

The RS‑232 communications are passive pass‑through only. The transmitter and receiver
do not generate or respond to the RS‑232 communication signals.
