Connecting Probes

Introduction
Probes can be connected at any time, regardless of whether the unit is on or off. To ensure that the
ports are not active, place the system in the image freeze condition
.

Cable Handling
Take the following precautions with probe cables:
Keep free from wheels
Do not bend the cable acutely
Avoid crossing cables between probes.

Connect a probe
DO NOT use a probe which appears damaged until functional and safe performance is

verified.
!! CAUTION:
Fault conditions can result in electric shock hazard. Do not touch the surface of probe
CAUTION
connectors which are exposed when the probe is removed.
!! CAUTION:
DO NOT allow the probe head to hang free. Impact to the probe head could result in
CAUTION
irreparable damage.
!! CAUTION:
1.)
Before connecting the probe:
a.) Do a visual check of the probe pins and system sockets.
b.) Remove any dust or foam rests from the probe pins.
c.) Inspect the probe for damage or degradation to the housing, strain relief, lens, seal, cable and

Put the probe in the probe holder. Use the integrated cable management hook to wrap the cord.
3.)
Ensure that the probe locking handle is at horizontal position.
4.)
Hold the probe connector vertically with the cable pointing upward.
5.)
Align the connector with the probe port and carefully push into place.
6.)
Turn the connector locking handle clockwise (to vertical position) to secure the probe connector.
7.)
Carefully position the probe cable so it is free to move and is not resting on the floor.
