Phone home: E-mail messages

E-mail notification allows the FastStream VT to
send an E-mail message to you, a network
administrator or other users when certain events
occur. Serious error messages are sent
immediately, while less serious error messages
are sent every 15 minutes.
Conditions which may launch E-mails include
• SCSI device errors
• Device transitions from online to offline
• Temperature conditions
• Voltage conditions
• Power recycle/power failure
• VTL nearing space capacity
Warning levels include
• All: warnings, critical events and informational
messages are sent
• Critical: critical event E-mails are sent
• Warning: warnings and critical event E-mails
are sent
• Informational: information only is sent
• None: no E-mails are sent
You may send E-mails to up to five E-mail
addresses and designate which conditions prompt
each E-mail notification.
When an event occurs that warrants E-mail
notification, the FastStream VT sends the
message; it cannot respond to a rejection by a
server for an invalid address.
Each E-mail is time stamped when it leaves as
part of the SMTP header information as shown in
Exhibit 3.0-3.
Exhibit 3.0-3 The E-mail messages sent by the FastStream VT follow this format.
