This section provides general information regarding recommended methods of installation for CE compliance. It is
not intended as an exhaustive guide to good practice and wiring techniques. It is assumed that the installer of the
ACS880+N5350 is sufficiently qualified to perform the task, and is aware of local regulations and requirements. ABB
products that meet the EMC directive requirements are indicated with a "CE" mark. A duly signed CE declaration of
conformity is available from ABB.
C.1 Applicable Standards
The drive complies with the following standards. The compliance with the European Low Voltage Directive is verified
according to standard EN61800-5-1.
EN 60204-1:2006 + A1 2009
IEC/EN 60529:1991 + A1 2000
IEC 60664-1:2007
EN 61800-3:2004
EN 61800-5-1:2007
EN 61800-5-2:2007
UL 508C:2002
NEMA 250:2008
CSA C22.2 No. 14-10
GOST R 51321-1:2007
C.2 CE Marking
A CE mark is attached to the drive to verify that the drive follows the provisions of the European Low Voltage, EMC and
RoHS Directives. The CE marking also verifies that the drive, in regard to its safety functions (such as Safe torque off),
conforms with the Machinery Directive as a safety component.
C.2.1 Compliance with the European Low Voltage Directive
The compliance with the European Low Voltage Directive has been verified according to standards EN 60204-1 and
EN61800-5-1.
C.2.2 Compliance with the European EMC Directive
The EMC Directive defines the requirements for immunity and emissions of electrical equipment used within the European
Union. The EMC product standard (EN61800-3:2004) covers requirements stated for drives. See section Compliance with
the EN61800-3:2004 below.
C.2.3 Compliance with the European RoHS Directive
The RoHS Directive defines the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.
C.2.4 Compliance with the European Machinery Directive
The drive is an electronic product which is covered by the European Low Voltage Directive. However, the drive includes the
Safe torque off function and can be equipped with other safety functions for machinery which, as safety components, are in
the scope of the Machinery Directive. These functions of the drive comply with European harmonized standards such as
EN 61800-5-2. The declaration of conformity is shown below.
