CYLINDER HEAD COVER
INSTALLATION
Wipe out oil from the cylinder head cover/cylinder barrel
[1] mating surface with a clean shop towel or a
degreasing cleaning agent.
Apply a liquid gasket (ThreeBond® 1206/1216E/1207B,
Hondabond 4, Hondabond HT or equivalent) [2] as an
even bead (1.5 – 2.0 mm (0.08 – 0.10 in)), centered
between the edges of the mating surface and bolt holes
in the cylinder head cover.
Install the cylinder head cover on the cylinder barrel.
• Assemble within 3 minutes after applying the liquid
gasket.
Loosely tighten each bolt, then tighten to the specified
torque in the numbered sequence.
TORQUE: 5.9 N·m (0.6 kgf·m, 4.3 lbf·ft)
Wait for approximately 20 minutes after assembly
before filling oil and starting the engine.
CYLINDER COMPRESSION CHECK
Start the engine and warm up to normal operating
temperature.
Turn the engine stop switch to the "OFF" position.
Remove the spark plug cap and remove the spark plug
(page 3-6).
Install a compression gauge [1] in the spark plug hole.
With the choke and throttle open, pull the recoil starter
forcefully several times, and measure the cylinder
compression.
