IGNITION SYSTEM
FLYWHEEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
Remove the ignition coil
Holding the flywheel with a commercially available strap
wrench [1], remove the nut (10 mm) [2].
Do not loosen the nut holding the flywheel by setting a
screw driver or equivalent tool on the fan blade or
projection.
Remove the recoil starter pulley.
Set a commercially available flywheel puller [1] on the
flywheel.
Screw in the flywheel puller and remove the flywheel.
Do not hit the flywheel with a hammer.
INSTALLATION
Clean the tapered part of dirt, oil, grease and other
foreign material before installation. Be sure that there is
no washer or other foreign material on the magnets.
Set the woodruff key in the key groove securely
(page
7-3).
Install the flywheel over the crankshaft.
Align the locking tab [1] on the recoil starter pulley [2]
with the cutout [3] in the flywheel, and install the pulley.
Apply light coat of the oil to the threads and the seating
surface of the nut (10 mm) [1] to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 21.1 N·m (2.15 kgf·m, 15.5 lbf·ft)
Install the ignition coil and adjust the air gap
