GOVERNOR ROD/
THROTTLE RETURN SPRING
REMOVAL
Remove the air cleaner cover
Disconnect the throttle return spring [1] from the throttle
valve.
Twist the carburetor and remove the governor rod [2]
from the throttle valve.
INSTALLATION
First, install the governor rod on the throttle valve.
Hook the throttle return spring on the throttle valve.
GOVERNOR ADJUSTMENT
Remove the fuel tank
Move the control lever [1] to the FAST position.
Loosen the governor arm nut [2] on the governor arm.
Push the governor arm [3] end toward the carburetor
side, and open the carburetor throttle valve [4] fully.
Holding the carburetor throttle valve fully opened, turn
the governor arm shaft [5] clockwise fully, and tighten
the governor arm nut to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 6.9 N·m (0.7 kgf·m, 5.1 lbf·ft)
Check to see whether the governor arm and the
carburetor throttle valve operate smoothly.
Install the fuel tank. Fill the pump chamber with water,
start the engine, and allow it to warm up to the normal
operating temperature.
Running the engine without adding water to the pump
chamber will damage the seal.
Move the control lever to the maximum engine speed
position and check the maximum engine speed.
maximum speed (no load): 7,800 ± 150 rpm
Adjust the maximum engine speed, if necessary, by
turning the adjusting screw [6] in or out.
