CRANKCASE
CRANKCASE COVER
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
REMOVAL
Insert a screwdriver or equivalent tool into the recess
[1] as shown, and remove the crankcase cover from the
cylinder barrel.
INSTALLATION
Clean the mating surfaces of the cylinder barrel [1] and
the crankcase cover using a degreasing cleaning agent
or a clean shop towel.
Set the two dowel pins (6 x 15 mm) on the cylinder
barrel.
Apply a bead (1.5 – 2.0 mm (0.08 – 0.10 in)) of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond® 1206/1216E/1207B, Hondabond
4, Hondabond HT or equivalent) [2] to the crankcase
cover mating surface of the cylinder barrel.
Install the crankcase cover on the cylinder barrel.
• Assemble within 3 minutes after applying the liquid
gasket.
• If it is hard to install the crankcase cover securely,
assemble by turning the crankshaft a little.
Loosely tighten each flange bolt (5 x 23 mm), then
tighten to the specified torque in the numbered
sequence.
TORQUE: 7.3 N·m (0.75 kgf·m, 5.4 lbf·ft)
Wait for approximately 20 minutes after assembly
before filling oil and starting the engine.
