6-cylinder direct-injection engine (3.6 l engine, 4V) - Edition 06.2019
– Remove heat shield above right drive shaft. Remove nuts -1-
to do so.
– Remove both drive shafts ⇒ Running gear, axles, steering;
Rep. gr. 40 ; Drive shaft; Removing and installing drive shaft .
– Unbolt flexible coupling of propshaft from gearbox ⇒ Rep. gr.
39 ; Propshaft; Removing and installing front flexible coupling .
Caution
Avoid damage to the flexible joint:
♦ Do not allow the flexible joint to kink by more than 20°.
♦ Install flexible joint so that it is not under tension.
♦ Do not damage wire mesh on decoupling element.
– Unbolt front exhaust pipes from exhaust manifolds -arrows-.
– Unbolt rear clamping sleeve and mounting for front exhaust
pipe. Remove front exhaust pipe with Lambda probes.
Note
Lambda probes can remain screwed in.
– Unscrew bolts -1 ... 3- and remove pendulum support.
– Insert engine bracket - T40074- in engine and gearbox jack -
V.A.G 1383 A- .
– Remove adapter - T40074/1- from engine support - T40074-
and screw with nut -1- onto cylinder block.
