Loading and Cutting
Off Media
Explain following items in reference to "2-2 Loading and Cutting Off Media" and "6-1 Usable Media".
!! IMPORTANT !!
- When loading or moving roll media, use lifting equipment, and exercise care to prevent falls.
- Never load media that weighs more than 100 kg (220 lb).
Usable Media
Do not use the Media whose width is less than 1220mm (48 inches).
REASONS
1. It makes it difficult to keep the rear dancer roller leveled, and the media easily skews.
2. It makes it difficult to increase the heater temperature by the air-cooling of the vacuum fan.
3. The vacuum performance comes down and the media easily gets jammed.
Make sure to use the Reinforcement pipe when loading media that has a width of 1880mm (74 inches) or wider
Load the media onto the roll shaft (outward curl media / inward curl media)
The position of the end cap is different depending on the width of the media. Make sure to use the
Media gauge to set the media at the proper position.
Mount the roll shaft in the paper pipe
Mount the media and paper pipe on the take-up and feed units
Pass the media through the printer
Fasten the media to the paper pipe (when taking-up with outward curl / when taking-up with inward curl)
Set the orientation for automatic feed and automatic take-up
!! IMPORTANT !!
- Never operate the MANUAL switch when the loading lever has been lowered.
- Never use
- Never needlessly touch the dancer rollers. Sudden movement of the media take-up or feed system
may cause injury.
Install the media clamps
!! IMPORTANT !!
- The Media clamps are different between the one for the left side and the one for the right side.
- In case the Media clamps are used, make sure the Head Height is set to at [Middle] or [High]. When
the head height is set to "LOW", the media clamps cannot be used. Doing so may cause the heads
to strike the clamps and become damaged.
How to cut off media
to feed the media in reverse.
