The subsections that follow describe activities to be performed in the course
of the dynamic trial fitting to adapt the prosthesis to the patient.
5.4.1 Checking the Stiffness and Length of the Prosthetic Foot
1) In the 647H543 Quick Reference Guide, note the section "Check of stiff
ness and length of the 1E90" (see page 9).
2) CAUTION! When hopping, do not bend the knee too far so that the
proximal end of the prosthetic foot does not contact and injure the
thigh.
Have the patient hop on both legs between parallel bars.
3) Check the level pelvis position.
4) If required, adapt the foot length according to the section "Shifting the
Prosthetic Foot" (see Page 29) to achieve the level pelvis position.
5) If the stiffness of the prosthetic foot is not optimal, replace the prosthetic
foot with one of different stiffness and once again check the level pelvis
position while hopping.
5.4.1.1 Shifting the Prosthetic Foot
>
Required tools and materials:
710D4 Torque Wrench
1) Loosen the 4 set screws (see fig. 4).
2) Shift the prosthetic foot in the required direction in the test adapter.
3) Secure the prosthetic foot in the test adapter by tightening the 4 set
screws (see fig. 9) (mounting torque: 15 Nm).
5.4.2 Trimming the Prosthetic Foot
>
Required tools and materials:
Saw with metal or diamond blade, vice, jaw pads
1) In the 647H543 Quick Reference Guide, observe the section "Cutting
the 1E90" (see page 10).
2) Mark a cut edge on the prosthetic foot with a pen so that the proximal
edge of the prosthetic foot is 2 cm from the thigh during the swing
phase while running (flexion).
3) Clamp the prosthetic foot in a vice with jaw pads.
4) Saw through the prosthetic foot at the marking and deburr the cut edge.
5.4.3 Exercises
► Perform the exercises described in the 647H543 Quick Reference Guide
(section "Exercises" – see page 12).
5.4.4 Dynamic Optimisation
For the dynamic optimisation of the sport prosthesis, it is important that the
prosthetic foot is set to the following values:
