A bar code is a series of vertical bars
and spaces used to encode
information in a machine-readable
form. They are used on nearly every
item in business today.
See the information provided by
your supervisor for the specific
bar-code types your PTC-1800 has
been programmed to recognize
(several of those listed above).

Via the keyboard
The PTC-1800's keyboard can be used to enter data.
See Chapter 6 for a description of each of the
PTC-1800's keys.
1. Press the data keys to enter alphabetical or
numeric data into the PTC-1800.
2. Press the Send key.
Through a laser scanner
Data can also be entered with the PTC-1800's laser
scanner. When you scan a 1D bar code, the PTC-1800
is programmed to read, while the PTC-1800 and
scanner interpret the data and store it in the
PTC-1800's memory.
