Factors Influencing Choices for Timeout Values
The factors influencing choices for timeout values are the same as the factors
influencing choices for threshold values – see section 10.3.2. From the Site Map
screen, click Firewall and Timeout to display the screen as shown next.

Type the number of seconds (default 30) for the Contivity 251 to wait for a TCP
session to reach the established state before dropping the session.
Type the number of seconds (default 60) for a TCP session to remain open
after the firewall detects a FIN-exchange (indicating the end of the TCP
session).
Type the number of seconds (default 3600) for an inactive TCP connection to
remain open before the Contivity 251 considers the connection closed.
Type the number of seconds (default 60) for an inactive UDP connection to
remain open before the Contivity 251 considers the connection closed.
