After the front panel displays the system load cycle messages, the system
configuration and operation messages are displayed, as described in
Table 4-12. System configuration and operation messages

System activity
Erasing flash memory if necessary.
Loading main program on flash memory if necessary.
Calculating checksum for flash memory.
Performing the BootP function to obtain IP address and
downloaded image file name from the boot server if
necessary.
BootP server response has timed out.
Performing TFTP to download image file from the file server if
necessary.
Loader program is swapping flash memory banks to obtain
the correct image code.
System activity
Initializing with valid NVRAM parameters and preparing to
start configuration.
Communicating with other BayStack 281xx switches to
negotiate spanning-tree parameters, calculate link status, and
obtain address updates. In this mode, user traffic is not
forwarded.
Operational system, user traffic is forwarded to other ports
or BayStack 281xx switch within the network.
