Procedure
Step 1.
Prepare your server.
1. Remove the top cover. See "Remove the top cover" on page 392.
2. Disconnect the cables from the rear drive cage.
3. Remove all the installed drives and fillers (if any) from the drive bays. See "Remove a hot-swap
drive" on page 176.
Step 2.
Remove the 4 x 2.5-inch drive cage.

1. Twist and pull out the blue plunger.
2. Slide the drive cage towards the rear of the chassis to release it.
Step 3.
If needed, remove the backplane from the drive cage. See "Remove the middle or rear 2.5-inch-
drive backplane" on page 188.
After you finish
If you are instructed to return the old drive cage, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are provided.
