How to Perform a Treatment
(1)
Switch on the instrument.
(2)
Attach the electrodes to the respective stimulation points.
(3)
From the Display <1>, select one of the above-mentioned current modes, e.g. STOCH.
(4)
Select the parameters variable for the respective current mode (e.g. simulation frequency, biphase
pulse output, pulse shape, etc.).
(5)
Set the therapy time.
(6)
If necessary, plug in the manual release key as therapy pause button in the Manual Release Key
Socket <11> on the front of the instrument and hand the manual release key to the patient.
(7)
Slowly turn up the intensity of channel I with the Intensity Control Channel I <3>. The therapy
time elapses.
CAUTION
Make sure you do not touch the electrodes when the current is turned up!
(8)
After expiry of the timer, an acoustic signal will be issued. The intensity is turned down to zero auto-
matically. Remove the electrodes.

5.5.4 Muscle Stimulation Using Low-Frequency Currents

Current Mode T/R
The low-frequency current modes provided for muscle stimulation are FaS and T/R.
FaS is usually applied in case of faradic excitable nervo-muscular systems. If, however, while testing the
faradic excitability, t was noticed that the muscles can NOT be stimulated successfully any more, it is advis-
able to treat the beginning atrophy of the paralysed muscle with triangular pulses of the T/R. This way,
the denerved muscles can be retained until re-enervation by stimulation according to the principle of se-
lective muscle stimulation.
You find a detailed overview about the parameters adjustable under
