Make certain front indexing hole in cross­

shaft is lined up with cross member attaching
saddle stud.
3. Torque nut to specifications.
4. Install shock absorber to lower control arm and
install stabilizer bar if so equipped.
5. Remove tool.
6. Remove vehicle from hoist.

All control arm attachments are impor­

tant attaching parts in that they could affect the
performance of vital components and systems,
and/or could result in major repair expense.
They must be replaced with parts of the same
part numbers or equivalent parts if replacement
becomes necessary.

Torque values must be used as specified during
reassembly to assure proper retention of these
parts.
Removal (Fig. 12)
1. Raise vehicle on hoist and remove spring as outlined
under spring removal.
2. Remove cotter pin from lower ball stud and loosen
stud nut unitl top of nut is slightly above top of the
stud.

3. Install Ball Stud Remover J-23742, position - large
cup end of the tool over the upper ball stud nut and
piloting the threaded end of tool on end of the lower
ball stud. Extend bolt from Tool J-23742 to loosen
lower ball stud in steering knuckle. When stud is
loosened, remove tool and nut from lower stud.
4. Remove control arm.
