2. Turn mixture screw in until it lightly contacts seat,
then back screws out four (4) full turns.
3. Adjust carburetor idle speed screw to obtain "initial
idle speed" (see "Other Adjustments" Specifications
Chart in back of manual - Column #1).
4. Then adjust mixture screws equally in (Leaner) to
ACCELERATOR AND CHOKE CONTROLS
THROTTLE LINKAGE
The throttle control system is of the cable type. There
are no throttle linkage adjustments, a reference between
the bottom of the accelerator pedal roller and floor pan
should be used only as a check for bent bracket assem
blies. Check torque references. Check for correct open
ing and closing positions by operating accelerator pedal
in vehicle.
If any binding is present, check for

correct routing of cable or pedal interference
with carpets. Also, check for proper return
spring and its proper installation.

5. Install service "Idle Needle Limiter Caps" on mix
ture screws.
6. Reconnect distributor vacuum hose and fuel tank
vapor hose.
THROTTLE ROD KICK DO W N LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
1. Disconnect throttle rod swivel at throttle lever on
carburetor or at dash lever.

2. On automatic transmission equipped vehicles dis
connect TV rod at throttle lever.
3. Hold carburetor throttle in wide open position, push
throttle rod rearward (to position accelerator pedal
at the floor mat) and adjust swivel to just enter hole
in throttle lever.
4. Connect swivel to throttle lever and install accelera
tor return spring.
