MODEM 32144
When V.32bis mode is selected,
7200 bps can be selected as the
maximum or minimum data rate
(using the Speed Limit option).
When V.32bis is not selected,
7200-bps operation is not available.
NOTE
By definition, V.32 bis
operation
ability to operate at 12,000
and 14,400 bps. However,
RRP, the 7200-bps data rate,
and the RATE screen are
available on the modem
when V.32 bis is selected.
V.32 EXTENDED. V.32 extended
mode disables the V.32 bis features.
In V.32 extended mode, the
modem's functionality is identical
to that of modems prior to
incorporation of the CCITT V.32
bis recommendation.
208 Phase Detection
208, v.32/208 modes
NORMAL. Conditions the
modem's 208 receiver for
compensated modulation detection
for improved performance with
older 208 modems.
V.22 bis S1 Duration
Hayes, V.25 bis, Dumb modes
This option affects the duration
of the S1 signal during a V.22 bis
handshake. To allow the modem to
connect properly with certain

manufacturers' V.22 bis modems
that do not conform fully with the
V.22 bis standard, the modem's S1
signal duration may have to be
changed from the default setting,
100 ms, to 150 ms. The CCITT V.22
bis specification specifies an S1
duration of 100 ms.
V.32/208 Auto-Detect Mode
208, V.32/208 modes
To enable V.32/208 auto-detect
mode, the V.32/208 auto-detect
Summary Setup option must be set
to 1 for enable and the front panel
Speed Type option must be set to
AUTO. (If you select the V.32/208
auto-detect Quick Setup, the
modem automatically sets both of
these options to enable V.32/208
auto-detect mode.)
When V.32/208 auto-detect
mode is enabled, the modem
automatically selects V.32 or Bell
208 mode, depending on the
mode of the originating modem.

ISCELLANEOUS
V.25bis DTR Dialing
V.25 bis mode
This option enables or disables
DTR dialing for V.25 bis mode only.
If this option is enabled, DTR
dialing will function in V.25 bis
mode—depending on which of
these modes (i.e., which
autodialer) is enabled.
