3.8 Dialer Mode
Several dialer mode options can
be selected from the DIALER
and DIAL V25bis screens.

OFF. The autodialer is off,
meaning the modem will operate
in Dumb mode only. Calls must be
made using the front panel AUTO-
DIAL function or they must be
manually originated.
HAYES. The autodialer will
automatically dial previously stored
phone numbers, and the modem
will respond to Hayes commands.
DTR. This selection enables DTR
dialing, an option that allows you
to set up the modem to
automatically dial a stored number
even when the autodialer has not
been enabled.

V.25 bis Dialer Modes
V.25 bis mode
Any of the selections from the
DIAL V25 bis screen will enable
the V.25 bis autodialer.
The three selections on the DIAL
V25bis screen allow you to select a
data protocol that is appropriate
for the DTE the modem is
connected to. The choices are—
ASYNCHRONOUS (Asyn)
SYNCHRONOUS, CHARACTER
ORIENTED (Syn_c), and
SYNCHRONOUS, BIT ORIENTED
(Syn_b)
3.9 Auto-Answer Option
Auto-Answer
Hayes, V.25 bis, Dumb, 208,
V.32/208 modes
This option determines whether
or not a call is automatically
answered when the phone rings.
NOTE
DTR dialing for V.25 bis
mode or Penril autodialer
mode cannot be enabled
through the DIALER screen.
To select DTR dialing for
V.25bis or Penril mode, you
must use the Penril/V.25bis
DTR Dialing option.
