Optical Head

LDS Series Sensors are CLASS II LASER INSTRUMENTS according to the
EN 60825-1 standard (July 94):
VISIBLE LASER RADIATION
AVOID DIRECT EYE EXPOSURE TO BEAM
CLASS 2 LASER PRODUCT
Max. Power = 0.9 mW at 670 nm
Any other intervention requiring dismantling of all or part of the equipment
must be carried out by our maintenance service.
11.2

Maintenance of the LDS1000 Electronic Controller

Certain safety precautions must be respected before any intervention on
the LDS1000 Controller.
In order to comply with the safety standards for the use of this equip-
ment, the user must take the necessary precautions and respect the war-
nings that appear in the chapter entitled "Warnings".
The LDS1000 electronic controller is designed to receive signals from an
LDS series sensor The following precaution are necessary if it is to work
correctly:
• Make sure that the mains current matches the characteristics of the
autocollimator.
• Make sure that the mains plug is grounded.
• Do not cause a short-circuit between the connector terminals of the
communication.
• Use the cables supplied by NEWPORT.
• Cut the power supply to the controller when making a connection.
• Do not connect the BNC terminals of the logical inputs/outputs to an
electric power supply.
• Do not try to connect a sensor other than the one supplied by
NEWPORT without contacting our support services.
Maintenance
Clean the electronic controller with a soft cloth and a little alcohol.
