Telephones

● This section describes the basic operations for a telephone connected to an Expansion Adapter. For
N ote
descriptions of other operations, refer to the instruction manual for that telephone that you are using.
■ When a telephone is connected to an Expansion Adapter, it can be used to talk with the Door Intercom (with
alarm display and remote test terminal) and the Color Camera Foyer Slave Unit.
■ If an incoming call comes from an outside line while you are talking by telephone with the Door Intercom (with
alarm display and remote test terminal), the Color Camera Foyer Slave Unit, the Lobby Intercom, or the
manager's office, you will hear an incoming call sound from the handset. You can connect to the outside line
by returning the handset and then picking it up again.
■ You can connect your existing telephone, but a Panasonic telephone is recommended in order to prevent
malfunctions.
* Recommended model (made by Panasonic Communications Co., Ltd. as of August 2009).

■ Make the following settings when connecting an answering machine, a cordless answering machine, or a fax
machine with a telephone function.
(This is to prevent erroneous recording or fax reception.)
●When Away Mode or Automatic Fax Reception Mode is set, set the number of rings before responding to an
outside telephone call to at least four.
If this is not set, responses will be made to extension calls (including calls from the Door Intercom with
alarm display and remote test terminal, the Color Camera Foyer Slave Unit, the Lobby Intercom, and the
manager's office), and the answering machine or fax machine may answer.
●If it is not possible to set at least four rings or if at least four rings have been set but recordings are still
made or faxes are still received, then set 1 (extension call ringer) to "No" for the telephone. (Page 101)
When "No" is selected, then even if a call comes from the Door Intercom (with alarm display and remote test
terminal) or from the Color Camera Foyer Slave Unit, no extension call sound will be audible from the
answering machine, cordless answering machine, or fax machine.
* This applies to fax machines with a telephone function include fax machines with an answering machine or
cordless answering machine function.
■ The telephone's original ringer is used for incoming call and call sounds. This manual gives incoming call
sounds and call sounds as lu lu lu.
●The tone is the same for outside line and extension incoming calls, but they can be distinguished by the
different intervals.
(If a melody is used for the call sound, then you will not be able to differentiate between outside line and
extension line calls.)
Notice
● Fax machines without a telephone function cannot be connected.
● In Away Mode, alarm sounds are recorded when security is activated.
If you do not want to record, set 2 (security ringer) to "No" for the telephone. (see page 101)
