When you make any changes in the ‡SNMP > SNMP General menu the unit will
require a reboot. The message will be displayed: 'SNMP CONFIG HAS CHANGED -
MUST REBOOT FOR IT TO TAKE EFFECT'. There are parameters on other SNMP
menus that also require a reboot, so it is suggested that you make all the SNMP
changes then reboot only once.
If you are using SNMPv3, password phrases will be needed to generate V3 keys using
the ‡SNMP > SNMP Keys menu. You need to enter the password and press
<Return>, and enter the same password again and press <Return>. The display will
confirm that the password has been entered successfully. When you leave this page
press <Esc> and choose Save.
The ‡SNMP > SNMP Target Table allows you to specify devices on the network which
are:
allowed to poll the unit, if you are using SNMPv2c; or
to be sent traps, and whether those are V2c or V3 traps.
Note: The 'Src' field is not used for validation in SNMPv3, which uses other
The unit does not broadcast SNMP Traps by default, but you can list multiple devices in
this table.
The ‡SNMP > SNMP Trap Configuration menu allows you to set each of the traps
listed to Enabled or Disabled.

Client Configuration

You will need to configure the client correctly in order to poll the unit and/or to receive
traps. You will need to load the two Vocality MIBs into the client application to
correctly interpret the traps. These can be obtained by emailing your local Vocality
support representative.
For V2c, the Community Name used must be set correctly in the ‡SNMP > SNMP
General menu.
For V3, the passwords for authentication and privacy set in the ‡SNMP > SNMP Keys
menu must match those of the unit. The V3 User Name (Security Name on Castlerock
products) can be set on the ‡SNMP > SNMP General menu. By default it is 'v3u'. If
you do not set these, the client will report 'invalid security parameters specified' or a
statement to that effect.

Showing the IP Route Table

Standard MIBs (as opposed to RFCs) will usually be included with your Network
Management system. If any are missing, then they can be downloaded from the Web at
http://www.simpleweb.org/
For example, if you use Castlerock version 7.0, you will find the IP-FORWARD-MIB
(RFC2096) was not included with the management software. This in turn calls up other
MIBs. URLs to obtain these, at the time of writing (January 2014), are:

FORWARD-MIB
Valid for V08_08.02 or V08_48.02
