After your first reboot the <UPGRADE> flag will be deleted and on next reboot the old
software, with the attribute Primary, will be loaded. If you wish to make the new
software your default, it is imperative that you tag it as Primary.
All software versions are retained in the file system and may be reactivated as Primary at
any time in the same way.
Unit configurations are maintained during software updates.
5.3

Upgrading Boot ROM Firmware

This section explains how you can upgrade the Boot ROMs. You may also need to refer
to Section 5.5 Installing the Vocality Network Upgrade Tool (VNUT).
5.3.1

Confirm Boot ROM firmware version

Before you begin, check the Boot ROM firmware version by issuing the following
command at the Debug prompt (see section 5.7 Issuing debug commands):
>romvers
If this confirms you do require a later version, you should now copy the new firmware
files to the VNUT upload directory.
5.3.2

Configuring IP

The unit must be configured with IP settings that allow it to reach the PC running VNUT.
5.3.3

Upgrading the Boot ROMs

On the Software Management menu - Professional you will need to enter the IP
address of the VNUT TFTP server, in place of 000.000.000.000 in Figure 5-7 .
When you leave this page press <Esc> and choose Save.
Then over a serial/M&C connection type:
<Ctrl> E
<Shift> ddd
