Draw out the right and
left
wheel
bearings.
NOTE:
If drawing out the left side
bearing first,
it
makes the job easier.
CAUTION:
The rem~ved bearing
should
be replaced.
INSPECTION
WHEEL BEARINGS
Inspect the
play of wheel bearing
inner race
'by
hand
while fixing
it
in
the wheel.
Rotate the inner race by hand to
inspect whether
abnormal noise occurs or rotating smooth1 y.
Replace the bearing; if there is something
unusual.
AXLE SHAFT
Using
a dial
gauge, check the axle shaft for runout
and replace it
if the runout exceeds the limit.

WHEEL
Make sure that
the wheel runout checked as shown,
does not exceed the sewice limit. An excessive
runout is usually due
t o
worn or
loose
wheel
bearings
and can be reduced by
replacing
the
bearings. If bearing replacement fails to reduce the
mnout, replace the wheel.
