Mission time

The mission time) of the used component has to be observed and complied with. After the
mission time of a component has expired, the component has to be taken out of service
and replaced. Continued operation is not permitted!
The specified mission time starts at the date of manufacture. The date manufacture is
permanently stored in the component and can be read out via the parameter C00206/6
(see also chapter Diagnostics, identification data).
For the STO safety function of the 8400 device series, no special examination is specified
. Therefore, the mission time cannot be reset via an examination.
The proof test interval is the period after which a proof test) to reveal undetected faults
must be performed.
The proof test is a periodic examination to reveal hidden hazardous failures in a
safety-related system so that - if necessary - a repair can bring the system back to an "as
new" state or restore it as close as under practical considerations possible to this state
(see DIN EN 61508-4).
