Interfaces
6.
INTERFACES
A variety of methods can be employed to communicate with the C-54 E. This chapter briefly
introduces the interfaces – Optelecom-NKF's proprietary MX/IP protocol and several open
standards – which can be used to control the module and manage the media streams it
handles.
6.1. Web User Interface
Using the C-54 E's internal web server is the most straightforward way to access an
individual module. The web pages enable you to configure module settings and view live
video images from a standard web browser, eliminating the need for a separate application
program. For an elaborate description of the web user interface, refer to chapter 7.
6.2. MX/IP
The proprietary Optelecom-NKF MX/IP protocol offers direct access to the module settings
contained in the Management Information Base (MIB). The MIB, a list of variables stored
inside the module, can be read and/or written with special MX software. MX Configuration
Tool, for instance, offers full control of the C-54 E through the MIB, enabling you to remotely
configure device settings and manage media streams. Additionally, MX viewing and control
software offers real-time monitoring of video streams (e.g. Operator Office, MX Viewer Lite)
and playback of recorded images (Operator Storage). For more details on the MX/IP
protocol, the MIB and Optelecom-NKF's EMX network service, refer to the manuals
documenting the above programs and the MX Software Development Kit.
please note
If you prefer using open standards (see below), the MX/IP protocol can be disabled (see
section 7.10.3).
