4.5. Updating Device Definitions

If a network device, such as the C-54 E, is not supported by the Optelecom-NKF application
software on your host PC, an update can be downloaded from www.optelecom-nkf.com.
The Support section of the site offers EMX updates and SNM Plug-in updates. Install the EMX
update first if you will be performing both update types.
EMX updates
Install the EMX update using the Showroom menu. The updater will update the shared
copy of device definitions used by Ethernet-based Optelecom-NKF MX applications, such
as Operator Storage, Operator Office, MX Configuration Tool, and the MX SDK. The
Embedded MX network driver will be updated with the latest changes, if any. Existing
installations of the SNM Configuration and Service Tool, or EB-2 Config will not be
updated.
SNM Plug-in updates
Run the SNMPlug-in executable if the SNM Configuration and Service Tool, or EB-2
Config is installed on your machine. The updater will scan your hard disk and modify all
copies of device definitions.
