3. Product Overview
3.6. Electrical Connections
3.6.1. HDMI Connector
Certain video Modules of MODEX transmitter and receiver
provide standard 19 pole HDMI connectors for inputs
and outputs. Always use high quality HDMI cable for
connecting sources and displays.
3.6.2. DVI Connector
29-pole DVI-I connectors, however internally
connected pins vary by interface types. This
way, user can plug in any DVI connector,
but keep in mind that analog signals (such as VGA or RGBHV) are
currently not processed – planned for future developments.
Always use high quality DVI cable for connecting sources and displays.
Pay attention to the DVI cable, if dual link signal is to be sent, use only
dual link capable DVI cables.
3.6.3. DisplayPort Connector
Certain video Modules of MODEX transmitter and receiver
provide standard 20-pole DisplayPort connectors for
inputs and outputs. Always use high quality DP cable for
connecting sources and displays.
3.6.4. BNC Connectors
Standard BNC receptacle is used for SD/HD/3G-SDI input
and outputs.
Recommended coax cable type: Belden 1694A
3.6.5. S/PDIF Connector
Certain interface Modules of MODEX devices provide
standard RCA receptacles for digital coaxial audio outputs.
ATTENTION! Plugs and sockets on consumer equipment
are conventionally color-coded by CEA/CEDIA-863-B (ANSI) to aid
correct connections. According to the standard Lightware uses
orange colored RCA connectors for S/PDIF signals.
MODEX-F15-OPTS, MODEX-F15-OPTM series – User's Manual
3.6.6. Analog Stereo Audio (Balanced)
5-pole Phoenix connector is used for balanced analog
audio. The connector is used on certain interface
Modules as a configurable input or output. Always
check if this connector is configured as an output or input to prevent
connecting two outputs.
Unbalanced audio signals can be connected as well. For unbalanced
output, connect only + and ground. For unbalanced input connect +
and ground to the source and connect – to the ground.

3.6.7. RS-232 / RS-422 Connector
Certain interface Modules of MODEX devices contain RS-232 / RS-422
port which can be connected by an industry
standard 9 pole D-sub female connector.
ATTENTION! The serial connection standard of
the port is pre-defined and not changeable by the user. User must
choose one of the standards (RS-232 or RS-422) before ordering
the device.

3.6.8. Ethernet Connector (LAN Port)
The MODEX transmitter and receiver devices provide
standard RJ45 connectors for LAN port. Always use high
quality Ethernet cable.
Wiring LAN Cables
Lightware recommends the termination of LAN cables on the basis of
TIA/EIA T 568 A or TIA/EIA T 568 B standards.
