Header and Footer

For a multiple-page file, you can print the same text such as report title,
chapter title, and section title at the top or bottom of each page. The typing
areas for such text is called a header and footer respectively. While editing the
body text, you cannot see the header or footer text on the display. It appears in
the header or footer area and normally the header or footer symbol appears on
the display.
You can fill the header and footer areas with up to 10 lines of text in total. The
numbers of lines for the header and footer text affect the page parameters and
page layout. The number of lines for the text area changes accordingly.
Follow these steps to create text in the header or footer area.
[1] Move the cursor to the first page where you want to start the same header
or footer text.
[2] Press the CODE + 7 (HEADER) or CODE + 8 (FOOTER) keys for the
header or footer text respectively.
The header or footer area appears on the display. If you just see the header
or footer text, press the ESC key to quit the header or footer function.
[3] Type the text in the header or footer area.
The header or footer area can contain the automatic page numbers in
addition to the text If you type the starting page number enclosed with
the double-quotation marks such as "1", the typewriter automatically
prints the continuous page numbers in the header or footer area.
If you want to clear the previously typed header or footer text, you can
clear it at one time with the CODE + CORRECTION keys. If you press
the ESC key immediately after the all clearance operation, you can undo
the clearance and resume the last text.
[4] Press the CODE + 7 (HEADER) or CODE + 8 (FOOTER) keys again.
The header or footer text disappears. Once you set the header or footer,
the setting is effective until you change the header or footer.
When the first line of the page that contains the page layout setting,
header, and/or footer appears on the lower line of the display, the setting
symbol(s) appear on the status line.

If you want to discard the header or footer text, press the CODE + 7
(HEADER) or CODE + 8 (FOOTER) keys to show the header or footer text
and press the CODE + 2 (DELETE) keys.
