Special Application Functions

This typewriter features versatility. Two special application functions are
available on this typewriter. One is the merge function for printing many
letters of the same contents including different inside address. Another is the
optional electronic spelling dictionary and optional electronic thesaurus. This
section contains the general descriptions of these functions. For further
information about how to use, refer to the chapter "Special Application."

Merge Function

If you want to write an invitation letter of the same contents to many
customers, the difference is only the inside address. Such typing is simple but
time consuming job. The very useful merge function is available on this
typewriter. It enables you to streamline such a kind of job. You need to create
a master file and a merge file. The master file is a text file that contains the
body text and labelnames to which corresponding merge data is added. The
merge file is a special merge data file that contains labelnames and records of
data.
To execute merge printing, you need to follow three basic steps:
•Create a master file.
•Create a merge file.
•Print a master file with the merge function on.
To open a merge file, select *NEWFILE.MRG on the WP MAIN screen and
press the
NEWFILE.MRG

Entry areas for labelnames: 20 labelnames/merge file
Type labelnames and press the ^ (C ursor Down) key to scroll the
display. The entry areas for the 1st record of merge data appear. Pressing
the

Press the J , (C ursor Down) key to scroll the display. The entry areas for
the 2nd record of merge data appear. Pressing the 'f (Cursor Up) key
scrolls to the previous display.
