Ribbon

Four types of ribbons are available for this typewriter: correctable carbon,
multi-use carbon, one-time carbon, and fabric. You can also use narrow ribbons
supplied for Brother's earlier models EM-80, 100, and 200 series typewriters
but they are not recommended for use with this typewriter. For more
information about the ribbons, consult the dealer where you purchased the
typewriter.

Selecting the Ribbon Type

When you use the recommended standard wide ribbons, you don't need to change
the ribbon type because the three-row wide ribbon type has been factory
selected. If you use narrow ribbons, you must select the single-row narrow
ribbon type.
Follow these steps to select the narrow ribbon type:

Turn on the typewriter.
Press the CODE + SET UP keys to select the SET UP mode.
The SET UP (1) screen appears on the display. Pressing the CODE +
SET UP keys again resumes the normal typing mode without changing
the setting.
Press the SPACEBAR to select the narrow ribbon (Single level) on the
display: Triple level for wide ribbons.
SELECT RIBBON (Single level, Triple level)
Press the CODE + SET UP keys again to make the setting effective and
exit to the normal mode.
