2.5.4 Configuring a User Name for MAC Address Authentication

A fixed user name or a MAC address can be used for MAC address authentication.
Context
When the fixed user name is used for MAC address authentication, you can set the password or
not. When the MAC address is used as a user name for MAC address authentication, the MAC
address is used as the authentication password.

In the interface view:
1.
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
interface interface-type interface-number
The interface view is displayed.
3.
Run:
mac-authen
MAC address authentication is enabled on the interface.
Ensure that no online user exists before disabling MAC address authentication by using
the undo mac-authen command.
Setting the user name format in the system view
1.
Run:
system-view
The system view is displayed.
2.
Run:
mac-authen username { fixed username [ password { cipher | simple }
password ] | macaddress [ format { with-hyphen | without-hyphen } ] }
The user name format is set for MAC address authentication.
There are two formats for a MAC address used as the user name, that is, the MAC
address with hyphens (such as 0010-8300-0011) and the MAC address without
hyphens (such as 001083000011). By default, a MAC address without hyphens is used
as a user name for MAC address authentication.
