Chapter 5. Installing and removing Model M12 switches

This chapter describes how to install the 2109 Model M12 switch into a 2109 Model
C36 cabinet, and how to remove an M12 from the cabinet.
One M12 is installed in the cabinet at the factory. The cabinet is designed to
support one additional 2109 Model M12, which can be added on site.
Before you install additional switches into the cabinet, be familiar with the following
installation considerations and safety guidelines. Also refer to "Safety and
environmental notices" on page xi for additional safety information and notices.
CAUTION:
A fully populated M12 weighs approximately 115 kg (250 lbs). Before you
install it, verify that the additional weight of the chassis does not exceed the
cabinet's weight limit or unbalance the cabinet. When you calculate the
additional weight, include the cards or power supplies that partially extend
out of the chassis.
Attention:

Before you install an additional M12 into the cabinet, perform the following tasks:
v Ensure that a space that is 14U high, 74 cm (29 in.) deep, and 48 cm (19 in.)
