c. Tighten the bleed screw.
Bleed screw
6 Nm (0.6 m·kgf, 4.3 ft·lbf)
d. Install the shims "4" onto each brake pad "5".
e. Install pad spring, pad supports "6", and
brake pads.

5. Install:
• Brake caliper "1"
• Caliper support bolt "2"
Caliper support bolt
27 Nm (2.7 m·kgf, 20 ft·lbf)

6. Check:
• Brake fluid level
Below the minimum level mark "a"  Add the
specified brake fluid to the proper level.
Refer to "CHECKING THE BRAKE FLUID
LEVEL" on page 3-11.

7. Check:
• Brake lever operation
Soft or spongy feeling  Bleed the brake sys-
tem.
Refer to "BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC
BRAKE SYSTEM" on page 3-14.

REMOVING THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPER

TIP
Before removing the brake caliper, drain the
brake fluid from the entire brake system.
1. Remove:
• Union bolt "1"
• Gasket "2"
• Brake hose "3"
TIP
Put the end of the brake hose into a container
and pump out the brake fluid carefully.
