A.4 Preparing Access via SSH
To be able to access the device via SSH, you will need:
a key
to install the key on the device
to enable access via SSH on the device
and a program for executing the SSH protocol on your computer.
A.4.1 Generating a SSH Host Key
The program PuTTYgen allows you to generate a key. This program is
located on the product CD.
Start the program by double-clicking on it.
In the main window of the program, within the "Parameter" frame, select
the type "SSH-1 (RSA)".
In the "Actions" frame, click "Generate". Move your mouse so that
PuTTYgen can generate the key using random numbers.
Under "Key passphrase" and "Confirm passphrase" do not enter a
password for this key.
In the "Actions" frame, click "Save private key".
Enter the file name and the storage location for the key file.
Answer the question about not wanting to use a passphrase with "Yes".
Make a note of the fingerprint of the key so that you can check the
connection setup.
Also store the key separately from the device so that if the device is
replaced you can transfer it to the replacement device.
