GENERAL

1 .3 Product description

ALUDOMUS SOLAR
temperature, condensing boilers for the production of
hot water for central heating and domestic hot water
systems. They incorporate a 200 litre double coil solar
storage cylinder and are equipped as standard with
a water return group for use in conjunction with so-
lar panels. ALUDOMUS SOLAR boilers incorporate a low
water content, low pressure drop, compact, monobloc,
aluminium heat exchanger, and a premixed microfla-
me burner controlled by an electronic control panel, all
enclosed within a robust free-standing casing. They fe-
ature sealed combustion chambers and, depending on
what flue accessories are fitted, can be classed as B23,
B23P , B53, B53P , C13, C33, C43, C53, or C63 appliances. The
fan extracts flue gases and aspirates comburent air from
outdoors, and is continuously controlled by the electro-
nic control card.

1 .4 Safety devices

ALUDOMUS SOLAR boilers are equipped with the fol-
lowing safety devices:
A safety valve that opens if pressure in the heating cir-
cuit rises above the 3 bar threshold.
A safety valve that opens if pressure in the DHW circuit
rises above the 8 bar threshold.
A safety valve that opens if pressure in the solar
circuit rises above the 6 bar threshold.
A heat exchanger safety thermostat that forces the
boiler to perform a safety shutdown if circuit tempe-
rature exceeds the preset safety threshold (100°C). The
sensor used to monitor circuit temperature is located on
the central heating flow pipe.
An electronic safety system that monitors flow rate
through the central heating system using two sensors,
one on the flow pipe and the other on the return pipe,
plus a water pressure switch. This safety system forces
the boiler to perform a safety shutdown if flow rate is
insufficient or not detected.
A flue gas thermostat in the bottom of the heat exchan-
ger that triggers an error condition if flue gas tempera-
ture exceeds 90°C. A float device is also installed in the
siphon to prevent flue gases escaping from the conden-
sate drain.
R
boilers are high efficiency, low
The characteristics of the horizontal heat exchanger and
of the burner ensure an excellent level of performance.
The combustion chamber and the heat exchange area
are designed to keep temperature low over the burner
surface, thus minimising emissions, maximising com-
bustion efficiency and improving ignition reliability
ALUDOMUS SOLAR
R
boilers come complete with safe-
ty valves, vent and bleed valve, expansion vessels, drain
cocks, system fill cock and pumps for the central hea-
ting circuit, storage cylinder and solar collector circuit.
Additional water control valves and electrical controllers
can be used to manage automatically up to 3 zones, the
first direct and the other two mixed.
A fan safety system that uses a Hall effect speed sensor
to continuously monitor fan speed.
9
The intervention of a safety device indicates a po-
tentially dangerous malfunction in the system, and
means that you must contact
stance Service immediately.
You may attempt to restart the boiler after a short delay
(see Preparing for initial start-up).
0
Never start the boiler up even for a short period if
the safety devices are not functioning correctly or
have been tampered with.
9
Safety devices must only be replaced by
Technical Assistance Service using original spare
parts. Refer to the spare parts catalogue supplied
with the boiler.
Always check that the boiler is functioning correctly after
any repairs.
