8.1 Options

This chapter describes how to install ventilator options and summarizes
upgrade information.
WARNING: Electrical shock hazard: disconnect the electrical supply before attempting to
make any repairs to the device.
CAUTION: Electrical components used in this device are subject to damage from
static electricity. Perform all repairs in an antistatic, ESD-protected
environment.
This section describes how to install these options:
• Section 8.1.1: proportional assist ventilation/timed (PAV/T) mode.
• Section 8.1.2: oxygen baffle, an enhancement for ventilator s/n
105999 and below.
8.1.1

PAV/T Mode

Required equipment:
• Phillips screwdriver
• Small, long-shaft flat-blade screwdriver
• EPROM extraction tool
The PAV/T option kit includes:
• EPROM for DC board
• ERPOM for PC board
• EPROM for MC board
• Alarm B PAL (MC board)
CAUTION: To ensure proper ventilator operation, the EPROMs (DC, PC, and
must have the same revision.
1. Remove the DC board from the ventilator. It is possible to remove the
retaining screws and pull the DC board from the enclosure while
leaving the touch pad and LCD connections attached.
