Chapter 1. Introduction and Intended Use
1062788
The BiPAP Vision Ventilatory Support System (BiPAP Vision) is a
microprocessor-controlled, positive pressure ventilatory assist system. The
BiPAP Vision (Figure 1-1) user interface includes multi-function keys, real
time graphic displays, and integral patient and system alarms.
The BiPAP Vision features a centrifugal blower to generate airflow and internal
oxygen module, allowing single or combined gas therapy. The system operates
in these modes:
continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mode
spontaneous/timed pressure support (S/T) mode
proportional assist ventilation/timed (PAV/T) mode (international
models only).
Integrated safety and self-diagnostic features check all system functions at
start-up and during operation. Visual and/or audible indicators report any
errors.
The BiPAP Vision regulates pressure by monitoring proximal airway pressure
and adjusting flows accordingly to ensure that the proximal pressure equals
the set pressure.
