IMPORTANT NOTE:
when the following cues are given. These brief instructions, when properly given, improve the
motor learning process, which is the key to the safe and effective performance of ANY exer-
cise. After only a few repetitions of each with a light weight will the movement be mastered.
The Motion - The Rear Delt
Grip the horizontal handles.
Retract the scapula (pinch the shoulder
blades back and together) and maintain.
Move the handles outward, then bend the
arms and bring the elbows back as far as
possible, keeping them at shoulder level.
"Lead with the elbows" to decrease elbow
flexor involvement.
Slowly return to the starting position
without resting, maintaining scapular
retraction.
