OSPF configuration using the ACLI
OSPF area configuration
Configure areas to group contiguous networks and hosts. Each area runs a separate copy of
the link-state routing algorithm and, therefore, each area has its own link-state database.
Important:
OSPF routes cannot be learned through an area border router (ABR) unless it connects to
the backbone or through a virtual link.

Configuring OSPF areas on the router
Import information from other areas to learn their OSPF relationships. Use this procedure to
create normal, stubby, or not-so-stubby areas (NSSA). Place stubby or NSSAs at the edge of
an OSPF routing domain.
Ensure that you configure all routers in a stubby or NSSA as stubby or NSSA, respectively.
You configure OSPF areas on a VRF instance the same way you configure the GlobalRouter,
except that you must use VRF Router Configuration mode and the prefix ip ospf. The VRF
must have an RP Trigger of OSPF. Not all parameters are configurable on non0 VRFs.
Prerequisites
• If you configure OSPF on a VLAN, the VLAN exists.
• Access OSPF Router Configuration mode.
