DTMF format for a call is decided during call setup. There are several types of DTMF:
• Inband DTMF is the most basic form of DTMF, which transmits audio sounds within the audio
stream, heard by participants.
• Out-of-band DTMF transmits messages outside the audio band, and are only converted to
audio at the receiving end. H.323 has several methods of incorporating out-of-band DTMF:
- User Input Indication (UII) is part of the H.245 standard, used in H.323 calls only.
- RFC2833 is the standard method used in SIP calls. However, you have the option to use
this method in H.323 calls as well, provided both endpoints support the standard within H.
323.
You can communicate with the Scopia

Before you begin
If configuring from the endpoint, you must first enable advanced configuration, as described in
Enabling Advanced Maintenance on the XT Series
Procedure
1. Access the IP settings. From the XT Series web interface, select Administrator Settings >
Calls > Preferences > IP. From the endpoint's main menu, select Configure > Advanced >
Calls > Preferences > IP.
2. Set the following fields:
