Managing Colors
Managing Colors
Printer color management corrects for variations in color tones due to differences between printers and aging, and
obtains continuously stable corrected color tones.
•
Color management that can be performed by the printer
The color tones of this printer can be corrected by executing color calibration. The printer also has a function
•
for notifying when executing color calibration is recommended, allowing you to efficiently reduce color varia-
tions by executing color calibration by using this function.
Using the Color Calibration Management Console (CCMC) color management utility included with this printer
•
makes it possible to execute color calibration from computers in remote locations and to perform centralized
management of the color calibration logs of multiple printers.
•
Color management that can be performed using the Spectrophotometer Unit (optional)
Using the optional Spectrophotometer Unit allows you to perform higher precision color calibration compared
•
to the sensor built into the printer.Furthermore, there is a built-in function (color check) for self-diagnosing
changes in color tones from the actual measured values that is able to automatically execute color calibration
if needed.
Color calibration can be executed by creating a Calibration Target (*1) for paper other than genuine Canon
•
paper and feed certified paper by using the Media Configuration Tool (MCT) utility for adding media informa-
tion that is included with the printer together with the Spectrophotometer Unit (optional).
Calibration Targets for paper other than genuine Canon paper and feed certified paper (*1) can also be regis-
•
tered in printers that do not have a Spectrophotometer Unit (optional) mounted (*2) as a custom media infor-
mation file. Since this makes it possible to execute color calibration on the paper you are using even on print-
ers that do not have a Spectrophotometer Unit (optional) mounted (*2), it delivers efficient, low-cost color man-
agement.
*1: Standard values of the colors corrected by color calibration
*2:Only supported by printers (8-color models) that support calibration link
