1 ● Introduction

Important Telephone Safety Instructions

The machine may connect directly to an analog telephone line. For
your protection, basic safety precautions should always be followed to
reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. These safety
precautions include:
WARNING:
telecommunication line cord supplied with your mailing
machine.
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
Disconnect the system's telephone line during a lightning storm.
Avoid using a telephone or equipment that connects to a telephone
line during an electrical storm; there may be a remote risk of
electrical shock from lightning.
Do not use the telephone or equipment connected to the telephone
to report a gas leak if the telephone is in the vicinity of the leak.
Never install telephone jacks in wet locations.
Do not use this product near water, for example, near a bath tub,
wash bowl, kitchen sink or laundry tub, in a wet basement or near a
swimming pool.
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the
telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.
