5.3.2: Using the Unicom 2500
The Unicom 2500 provides RS485/RS232 conversion. In doing so it allows the Nexus® meter to
communicate with a PC or other device. See the Unicom 2500 Installation and Operation Manual
for additional information.
Figure 5.7 illustrates the Unicom 2500 connections for RS485.

The Unicom 2500 can be configured for either 4-wire or 2-wire RS485 connections. Since the
Nexus® meter uses a 2-wire connection, you need to add jumper wires to convert the Unicom 2500
to the 2-wire configuration.
As shown in Figure 5.8, you connect the "RX-" and "TX-" terminals with a jumper wire to make
the "-" terminal, and connect the "RX+" and "TX+" terminals with a jumper wire to make the "+"
terminal
