Configuration Manual
Ascom d62 DECT Handset
5.27.1 Display Management Parameter
In addition to the PBX configuration, the extent to which caller identification is shown may
also be affected by the configuration of the parameter Display Management and Local
Phonebook Name. The parameter is accessed through the PDM/Device Manager by selecting
Systems > System x > Display Management and Local Phonebook Name
The following scenarios describe the different ways caller identification is provided, the
extent to which it may be shown and, where applicable, how the Display Management and
Local Phonebook Name parameter has been configured.
Display Manager
If the PBX is configured to forward display management text, the contents of the CLIP and
CNIP have no role in caller identification. Caller identification is shown in the following ways
depending on the value of the Display Management and Local Phonebook Name parameter:
1
Normal: The caller extension and name are fully shown in the handset display active
area directly from the display management text without looking up the handset or
company phonebook.
2
Add name internal and external call: The handset performs a lookup of the number or
name belonging to the calling party. If the number or name matches, the name from
the company phonebook is added as a third row in handset display active area. This
information is available to the PBX if the user indicates that the call is to be
forwarded to another party. A fully resolved call identification can therefore be sent
to the forwarded handset. The lookup applies to both internal and external numbers
held in the phone books.
3
Add name external call: As above, except that the lookup only applies to external
numbers held in the phone books.
CLIP and CNIP
The PBX is only configured to forward CLIP and CNIP and does not support display
management text.
CLIP
The PBX is only configured for CLIP. The incoming call information thus consists of only the
caller extension. Resolving the caller name requires a lookup of the called party local
phonebook or company phonebook. If the number matches a name in one of these sources,
the caller identification can be shown.
Whether or not the called party handset attempts name resolution is managed by the value
of the Display Management and Local Phonebook Name parameter. If company or local
phone book information is available, the parameter can be configured to fully render caller
identification. The effect of the different values that the parameter may be configured to
are as follows:
1
Normal: The handset only shows the extension number and performs no lookup of
the company or local phonebook. The caller identification is partially shown with the
extension provided by CLIP.
2
Add name internal and external call: The handset performs a lookup of the local or
company phonebook. If the number matches a name in one of these sources, the
caller identification is fully shown in the called party handset. The lookup applies to
both internal and external numbers held in the phone books.
3
Add name external call: Shows the caller identification if an external number matches
the content of the local or company phonebook.
