Laser Safety

Ths machne comples wth 21 CFR Chapter 1 Subchapter J as a Class 1 laser product
under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Servces (DHHS) Radaton Performance
Standard accordng to the Radaton Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968. Ths means
that the machne does not produce hazardous radaton.
Snce radaton emtted nsde the machne s completely confned wthn protectve
housngs and external covers, the laser beam cannot escape from the machne durng any
phase of user operaton.

CDRH Regulations

The Center for Devces and Radologcal Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Food and Drug
Admnstraton mplemented regulatons for laser products on August 2, 1976. These
regulatons apply to laser products manufactured from August 1, 1976. Complance s
mandatory for products marketed n the Unted States.
Use of controls, adjustments, or performance of procedures other than those specfed n ths manual may result
n hazardous radaton exposure.
The label s attached to the laser scanner machne nsde the machne and s not n a user
access area.
