Pre-Installation Requirements for Canon Facsimile Equipment
A. Location
Supply a sutable table, cabnet, or desk. See p. 13-2 for the machne's weght and dmensons.
B. Order Information
1. Only a sngle lne, touch-tone or rotary telephone set s to be used.
2. Order an RJ11-C modular jack (USOC code), whch should be nstalled by the telephone
company. If the RJ11-C jack s not present, nstallaton cannot occur.
3. Order a regular voce grade lne or the equvalent from your telephone company's busness
representatve.
Use one lne per machne.
DDD (DIRECT DISTANCE DIAL) LINE

IDDD (INTERNATIONAL DIRECT DISTANCE DIAL) LINE IF YOU COMMUNICATE OVERSEAS
Canon recommends an ndvdual lne followng ndustry standards, e.g. the 2500 (Touch Tone) or 500
(Rotary/Pulse Dal) telephones. A dedcated extenson off a PBX machne wthout "Call Watng" can
be used wth the machne. Key telephone systems are not recommended because they send non-
standard sgnals to ndvdual telephones for rngng and specal codes, whch may cause a fax error.
Ths machne s not supported on Voce Over Internet Protocol (VOIP).
C. Power Requirements
Ths equpment should be connected to a standard 120-volt AC, three-wre grounded outlet
only. Do not connect ths machne to an outlet or power lne shared wth other applances that
cause "electrcal nose." Ar condtoners, electrc typewrters, copers, and machnes of ths
sort generate electrcal nose whch often nterferes wth communcatons equpment and the
sendng and recevng of documents.
